The Official Programme for the 2026 Badajoz Carnival has been presented

This morning, Wednesday 28 January, the official programme for the Badajoz Carnival, a Festival of International Tourist Interest, was presented.

The Councillor for Fairs and Festivals, José Antonio Casablanca, announced the Official Programme for the 2026 Badajoz Carnival, which will be held from 13 to 22 February. The calendar also includes preliminary activities such as Las Candelas (Margen Derecha and Santa Marina), and the start of COMBA at the López de Ayala Theatre, with preliminaries from 3 to 6 February, semi-finals on 9 and 10 February, and COMBITA on 12 February. As a new feature, the competition will begin at 9 p.m. and tickets will be sold online.

The first weekend of Carnival will begin on Friday 13th February with the Children’s Parade and the Inaugural Proclamation by Sanguijuelas del Guadiana and the COMBA Grand Final. On Saturday 14th, the activities will continue with the Artifact Route and the Street Carnival, and on Sunday 15th, the Grand Carnival Parade will take place, winding its way through the streets of the city.

On Monday, the Children’s Parade of Comparsas and the Children’s Proclamation are scheduled to take place in the Plaza de España, as well as new Street Carnival performances.

The traditional Burial of the Sardine in the San Roque neighbourhood will take place on Tuesday 17th.

The second part of the Carnival activities includes events such as the Pet Contest, the Street Costume Contest, the Exaltation Proclamation on Thursday and the performances by Unidas de Plaza in Plaza on Friday 20th.

On Saturday 21st, the official events will close with the Grand Carnival Gala on the esplanade of the Old Fairground, and on Sunday in Valdepasillas, the Carnival Farewell Parade will begin at 1pm.
